Rin Tin Tin was the name given to several related German Shepherd dogs in film and television stories from the 1920's through the 1950's. In 1918 US Air Corps Corporal Lee Duncan discovered a half-starved German Shepherd dog and her five puppies in a blasted dug-out on the battle fields of France.
